KQ Tribute should be jailed for false identity theft
As a long time fan of Queen I was excitedly looking forward to the Killer Queen Tribute show at the Saenger Theater in Pensacola on Oct. 20, 2022. That excitement was quickly "killed" by this pathetic display of mimicry of one of the best rock groups ever. The lead man, Patrick Meyers shares a somewhat similar appearance to the older late Freddie Mercury, but that is where the resemblance ends. When it was possible to hear his vocals (the bass was so loud and the other instruments as well that words were muted) they were strained and seldom on key. The sound mixer (if there was one) decided that if the vocals were so bad that increasing the volume of the instruments would successfully mask the poor vocals. After all everyone in the audience (average age over 65) knew all the Queen's songs and lyrics and apparently imagined that they were hearing Myers singing them correctly. Oh, I should mention that the light show with bright spotlights and lasers shining on the audience either blinded you or precipitated a migraine if one were susceptible.
Myers' strutting around the stage was so stiff and ungraceful as to suggest a hamstring injury. His vocal range was so limited that he required the audience to belt out the lyrics whenever possible and usually quite often.
To be fair the lead guitar, bass player and drummer were talented and tried to be accurate to the original Queen songs. Unfortunately Myers' piano was so out of tune (as were his vocals) to make one grimace
Over all I give it a squatting ovation. Zero stars.
